Walking the Plank: How and When to Take the Plunge!

Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em is a concept that requires both self-awareness and skill to answer. How do you know the difference? I often come across clients who have difficulty discerning the difference between trusting their inner voice versus allowing change to occur and be flexible. I would say most folks get this wrong and tend to adhere to one extreme or the other. There are even some of us who try to figure this out along the way but bend like the changing winds, or death grip to the wrong things and situations. But how do you know the difference? When is life calling for you to shift, and when is life calling for you to stand your ground?
Here's how you know what to do when:

Stop, Drop, and Listen
The universe, your higher self, and your spiritual team will make it obviously clear, you just have to listen. Our lessons have a way of showing up again and again in slightly different costumes but with the same purpose. You have to be able to engage in consistent contemplation time to reflect and listen to what is being said. Spiritual lessons are calling you all the time. We just aren't very good at picking up the phone. Stop what you are doing, drop the distractions, and cue your mind to be attentive. There's nothing like having to rewind the movie 10 times because you weren't paying attention to the plot twist. Don't be that person in your life, especially when it's you that has to relive the same scene again and again.

Walk the Plank
Often what is being asked of us by our karmic journey feels like the most difficult, triggering, or uncomfortable thing to do. We have a knee-jerk reaction to not do what we need to. That is not the same thing as an inner knowing not to do something. It's a matter of fear versus truth. Something that is new, is not usual or familiar, feels not so nice, because our soul loves to do things it has experience with. However, if you are faced with a situation that is repeating itself and you have an urge you need to do something in your gut that you don't want to do, like forgive someone for example, then it's most likely what you need to do. The surface-level fake knowing is often fueled by some form of fear and familiarity. On the contrary, the deep inner knowing is a knowing despite fear. So if you are on the plank, refusing the end point, then it's time to wake up and see the karmic blade at your nose. Stop requiring suffering by refusing to walk and just turn around and take the plunge already. If you are being guided by circumstances out of, or into something new- albeit a relationship, job or state of mind- say yes! You know what you need to do, even if it scares you. It's how we totally burn rubber on the road to soul healing.

Trusting is an Art
There's this tiny, delicate, clear, confident, all-knowing voice within you safely tucked in an eggshell and that's what you've gotta trust. Sometimes it peeps, sometimes it roars. Your job is to master the the art form of accessing it. There's a pathway that you have to learn to follow that gets paved more with use. Also, the more you go down that pathway, the stronger the voice becomes, and the more mighty you get at trusting it. Also, by practicing this, you will find that you won't require spiritual bricks at your head to get it. Rather, lessons will flow with ease and you will be in harmony. Get to know yourself and dance your way to that eggshell. Let yourself really become intimate with what it says. Nurture it and treat it with respect and it will tell you if you're full of it, or if you need to stick with it.

Notice the Signs
This one is my favorite. Ever catch yourself giving guidance to someone and get the creepy feeling you should take your own advice? Signs show up everywhere including the radio, movies, television, your spouse, students, children and especially yourself. Notice them. How you know you should do something isn't whether or not it feels comfortable, you know you should do something when it reappears in the messages, murmurings and whispers from every source and human. For the last 6 months I've attracted clients that need me to tell them exactly what I need to tell myself. I bet if you stop and think about messages you are most passionate about teaching others, I think you will notice they are also your own. We teach most what we need to learn or have learned. Got to love that irony. I can just hear my spiritual guides now, laughing: "Notice the signs."

Trust the 2 Kinds of People
I always say to trust the 2 kinds of people in your life. Beyond those that are neutral, there are 2 types of people that are here on planet earth to help you with the lessons and soul-actualizing gifts you are here to claim. The first type will love you no matter what, seem to say exactly what you need to hear and go out of their way to support, encourage and elevate you. The second type, will do the opposite. They will challenge you, push you, trigger your insecurities and perpetuate the out-dated version of your soul that you are being faced with leaving behind. In my practice with clients, we get to discuss the 2 types of people as a way to understand what karmic patterns are present. The goal is to learn how to see the bigger picture and transform these relationships by seeing what lessons are there for us. The magic of both of these types of people are that they are here equally as teachers. They are putting you in the middle, and echoing both the potential and barriers in what you are here to embrace. Trust the 2 kinds of people by gaining a higher perspective, and you shall be king.

These 5 strategies are by no means an exhaustive list but a good beginning to engage in a self-reflective practice of knowing yourself. If you can get good at knowing when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away and run, then you will be happier. I continue to dance down the trail of life by bumping into my own lessons and I am ever so grateful that I have savored the lemonade it has produced. My wish for you, is to gain the power to do the same, and as often as possible, because we are so totally here on this planet to be the best, brightest and highest versions of ourselves.

This blog is dedicated to you. Thank you for your courage.  Courage can be mysterious at certain times in our lives. We must have excellent focus to not lose it under the bed or at the bottom of a pile of paper somewhere. For courage is needed most when we cannot find it. Take heed f

Synchronicity and Divine Timing is where it's at!

So I am not someone who believes that the world revolves haphazardly around the cosmos with no rhyme or reason; that all events that happen are coincidental, unrelated and compartmentalized. I believe the exact opposite. In fact, I believe everything is purposeful and happening exactly when it should. I work with others on accepting this reality and divine law although it appears to be one of the most contested spiritual philosophies. If I received a dime for every time I heard "I'm not supposed to be here right now," I'd be living in the mountains in India owning the most fancy temple money could buy. Any of these other statements, sound familiar? "This or that event shouldn't have happened to me," or "I wish I could be somewhere else in my life right now," or "Why am I stuck?" There are many variations of these statements but in essence they are all underlying a very chronic human misconception: the inability to understand and

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished...

...That will be the beginning." --Louis L' Amour Endings are merely new beginnings within the same circle of lessons only with higher vibrations. My life experiences have led me to greater levels of awareness and insight into the limitless, divine powers in my being. Shifting and changes are the avenues that lead to the path of my destiny. Sometimes however, I see these roads as scary. I know though that the challenges I experience are human in nature and exist as fear of losing and letting go. Why can't I be a Buddha everyday? The human experience is funny like that, in how we grasp and hold onto matters no longer meant for us. It's like a tug of war with spirit. We are afraid of loss. When we hold tight, life becomes more challenging. The exhaustion that comes from enduring a difficult life experience undoubtedly gives way to a serenity at some point. We have no choice but to surrender. A cycle is complete, a lesson learned, a loss gaping, a tired soul. Must we on
