Your true self is calling you home, here's how you get there.

Knowing your "truth" is like feeling your feet in the earth and being grounded in who you are, where you are, and why you are. It's not an easy thing to do but it's necessary for peace and the pursuit of purpose and here's why...

Love is a battlefield and so is social pressure
Everywhere we go, and most often under our roofs, we are influenced by social media, friends, loved ones and bosses to be what they expect, demand, or hope for. This influence, albeit subtle or hammer-like, affects us. In its most dangerous form, it's long-lasting and barely noticeable slowly taking us away from our own inner voice until we get to a point where we believe our inner voice is actually what others' have projected onto us. At that point, we're so out of touch with our true desires, we don't even remember they existed at all. It's like a poison that kills those dreams slowly. I somehow forgot what is was like to dream, like a child dreaming, like full on cape and imagination dreaming, and that makes me sad. Adults are too easily carried away to the demands of being responsible that we sacrifice our dreams by putting them on a sailboat, down a river, and wave goodbye in the name of safety. It takes courage, groundedness, and confidence to be unpopular, unique and scared to be your fullest and unique self but without it, we will undoubtedly feel that something is missing in life.

Creativity can't grow in arid conditions
Being creative can mean many things to many different people but without it, possibilities don't turn into opportunities. Creative people have more carefree, abundant, open spirits and attitudes because they allow unconventional and unique concepts to pulse through their veins. If you are in the habit of chasing a goal or tangible achievement, you typically are pursuing that with dogged determination... and blinders don't make for a great recipe for creativity. Creative people are the opposite, they intentionally don't have focus or blinders in this way. Focus, especially extraordinary consistent focus, isn't always great because it limits other potential options. Creativity is a sort of permission to be vulnerable, invent ideas, and paths not typically considered. If you want a chance to feel free creative energy, you have to know yourself, like really trust yourself, and let go of the rat race of external validation.

Happiness lives in people who live for happiness
Now if you think that you can maintain and sustain long term happiness by doing what others' want/expect/tell you to, you're in for a cold morning shower very soon. My experience has been that your soul will not let you slide around your true purpose for being here. It will nudge you in both gentle and strong ways until you shift. I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to move like water and flow in the direction of my dreams versus be dragged, or hit over the head with a boulder. You always know you are right where you need to be when you experience ease and happiness and when you are just like your environment and the people in it. However, if you are swimming against a current, running into barriers, or finding yourself in constant inner or real conflict, it's time to take a good long look at moving along. Trust me, I know what it's like and it's not pretty, fun or happy. It's exhausting. In order to get happy, and in order for happy to stick around, you gotta get honest with yourself and start taking steps towards the things that are like you. The truth is, the things that are like you, are meant for you. If you have to bend and break to match another's expectations, it's not for you, and it certainly won't make you happy.

Uncover, discover and celebrate your truth by following these steps:

  1. Write a letter from your inner child to yourself telling you what he/she most wants to be or do in life.
  2. Run around barefoot and take a walk in nature. Talk to trees and plants and ask them what makes them happy. Wait for their answer. Listen closely to what you see and hear.
  3. Dance more, alone, and even when people are watching. Loosen up the rigidity man!
  4. Make a top 10 list of the most fun things you enjoy doing in life, and do them. A fun task list may just reveal to you what your higher self is nudging.
  5. Eliminate the "shoulds" in your mind. "Shoulds" trigger self-judgment and aren't motivating actually at all. Try gentle affirmations instead that start with "I deserve, I really love, or I dream about..."
  6. Eliminate the people in your life feeding you the "shoulds." Enough said there.
  7. Never make fear-based decisions because it's the safe thing to do. They just don't ever work out in the long-run. Make small steps or goals instead that involve movement, but don't get stuck in the safe or in between states of transition.
  8. Try a new class, hobby, or group activity and put yourself out there. Meeting new people at new experiences shakes up the energy and can spark a talent or gift in you.
  9. Talk to strangers. I used to do a Tuesday challenge where I tried to meet a new person every Tuesday by introducing myself to them in odd places like gas stations and book stores for the sheer joy of meeting someone new.
  10. Journal, just put something on paper, consistently. It's a great way for you to allow your true inner urges to emerge over time. For example, try a joy journal where you record 1 thing everyday that makes you happy.

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished...

...That will be the beginning." --Louis L' Amour Endings are merely new beginnings within the same circle of lessons only with higher vibrations. My life experiences have led me to greater levels of awareness and insight into the limitless, divine powers in my being. Shifting and changes are the avenues that lead to the path of my destiny. Sometimes however, I see these roads as scary. I know though that the challenges I experience are human in nature and exist as fear of losing and letting go. Why can't I be a Buddha everyday? The human experience is funny like that, in how we grasp and hold onto matters no longer meant for us. It's like a tug of war with spirit. We are afraid of loss. When we hold tight, life becomes more challenging. The exhaustion that comes from enduring a difficult life experience undoubtedly gives way to a serenity at some point. We have no choice but to surrender. A cycle is complete, a lesson learned, a loss gaping, a tired soul. Must we ...

Synchronicity and Divine Timing is where it's at!

So I am not someone who believes that the world revolves haphazardly around the cosmos with no rhyme or reason; that all events that happen are coincidental, unrelated and compartmentalized. I believe the exact opposite. In fact, I believe everything is purposeful and happening exactly when it should. I work with others on accepting this reality and divine law although it appears to be one of the most contested spiritual philosophies. If I received a dime for every time I heard "I'm not supposed to be here right now," I'd be living in the mountains in India owning the most fancy temple money could buy. Any of these other statements, sound familiar? "This or that event shouldn't have happened to me," or "I wish I could be somewhere else in my life right now," or "Why am I stuck?" There are many variations of these statements but in essence they are all underlying a very chronic human misconception: the inability to understand and...
